If you mostly wear slim dress slacks with 1.25″ loops, this isn't your belt yet; the slim Datum Lite is on the roadmap. The Datum uses a magnetic auto-lock mechanism. Opening it requires a deliberate press on the release. It isn't actuated by bending, crouching, or pressure against the buckle face. That's a design choice we made specifically after reading how magnet-only buckles behave in the wild.
The magnetic auto-lock grips the weave mechanically rather than relying on friction alone. Expect the webbing itself to settle slightly during the first 30 days of wear.
