Why Noctis

If every weighted blanket has made you sweat, you haven't tried one without beads.

Most weighted blankets trap heat because glass beads are sealed inside fabric pockets. The Noctis has no beads. The weight is in the yarn itself. A chunky open knit that lets air move through it freely. That is the difference between a weighted blanket that wakes you up overheated and one that actually lets you sleep.

21 independent reviews confirm: no overheating under the Noctis.
In your home

A blanket that belongs in the room.

Neutral Linen Noctis on a mid-century sofa

Slate Noctis on minimalist sofa

13 colorways available. Chunky cotton open-knit that reads as decor, not equipment.

01
The core differentiator

Breathability through open-knit construction

This is an architectural claim, not a cover material claim. The open knit creates literal air gaps through the fabric. Air moves freely in both directions. Not breathable as a label. Breathable because of how it is built. Hot sleepers, menopausal women, and anyone who has returned a weighted blanket for heat: this is why the Noctis is different.

02
The care claim

Machine washable: full blanket, full cycle, no disassembly

The entire blanket goes in the machine. No cover to remove. No hand-wash inner. No dry-clean requirement. The 15 lb Standard is home machine feasible for most XL-capacity washers. For the 20 lb Queen, use a laundromat-capacity machine. Gravity's inner is hand-wash only because bead pockets cannot survive a spin cycle. The Noctis has no inner. There is nothing to protect.

03
The science

Deep pressure stimulation calms the autonomic nervous system

Consistent proprioceptive feedback across the blanket surface activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing cortisol and promoting serotonin and melatonin. Documented in clinical literature on deep pressure stimulation. This is why it feels like a hug, and why the hug works. Not a medical claim. A mechanism. Designed for anxious minds and restless sleepers.

All six differentiators

Built differently, from the yarn up.

🧶

100% cotton chunky knit with yarn-based weight

No beads, no inner fill, no weighted insert. Weight is locked into the yarn structure. No migration, no leakage, no uneven pressure after washing.

Even pressure distribution with no pocket migration

Bead-fill blankets shift and pool over time. Yarn weight is fixed in the knit. Consistent pressure across every inch, from night one to wash twenty.

A weighted blanket that looks like a throw

The chunky knit reads as a statement piece, not a medical aid. It lives on a sofa arm when you are not using it and guests ask where you bought it.

From people who have tried the rest
"I've returned three weighted blankets. Gravity, Baloo, one from Amazon. All of them woke me up sweating by 3am. The Noctis is the first one I've kept. Week three, still sleeping through the night."

Aesthetics and decor
Noctis bead-free open-knit construction detail
The mechanism

Why bead-free is different, not just better.

Traditional weighted blankets fill inner pockets with glass or plastic beads. The bead pockets trap air, trap heat, and over time shift unevenly. The Noctis eliminates all three problems by eliminating the beads entirely.

  • 1

No beads means no heat trap.

Beads seal air inside fabric pockets. Open knit lets air move freely. Hot sleepers are not a special case. They are the default beneficiary of this construction.

  • 2

    No beads means no migration.

Beads settle with sleep movement. Over months, pressure becomes uneven. Yarn weight is fixed into the knit structure. It stays put.

  • 3

No beads means real machine washing.

Gravity's inner is hand-wash only because bead pockets cannot withstand a full spin cycle. The Noctis has no inner. Full wash, full cycle, any home machine.

How we compare

Three decisive wins. One honest gap.

Honest about fit

The Noctis is not for everyone. Here is who it is for, and who it is not.

This is for you if

  • You have returned a weighted blanket because it made you overheat
  • You are a hot sleeper, light sleeper, or dealing with night sweats
  • You want pressure without insulation
  • You want something that looks like home decor, not a hospital aid
  • You have anxiety, ADHD, or restlessness that peaks at night
  • You want full machine washability with no disassembly

× This is not for you if

  • You run cold and want warmth from your blanket as well as pressure
  • You are under 80 lbs or buying for a young child under supervision
  • You want full-bed coverage from the 5 lb Throw size
  • You need a certified organic product today, before we earn that certification
What to expect

Most people need 3 nights. Night one is the adjustment.

1

It feels heavier than expected.

Your nervous system is calibrating to sustained proprioceptive input. This is normal. Many people feel slightly restricted. A few sleep better immediately. Both responses are common.

2

The weight starts to feel right.

Your body is adapting. The pressure feels less like constraint and more like containment. Most people begin to notice reduced middle-of-the-night waking by night two or three.

3

Night seven is when people say they cannot sleep without it.

Full acclimation typically happens within the first week. By night seven, most people report it feels strange to sleep without it. That is the signal that it is working.

"Almost sent it back after night one. It felt too heavy. My wife said give it another night. Night three I slept 7 hours straight without waking. Now I can't travel without it. I ordered the 5 lb throw for hotel stays."

Questions

Everything you are wondering about.

The standard recommendation is approximately 10% of your body weight. Under 150 lbs: 15 lb Standard. 150 to 180 lbs: 15 lb Standard works well. Over 180 lbs or if you prefer heavier pressure: 20 lb Queen. The 5 lb Throw is for sofa and travel only. It does not cover a full bed. If you are unsure, the 15 lb Standard is our most purchased and most kept after exchanges. And if you get it wrong, we swap it within 30 days at no cost.
This is the most important question from people who have returned other weighted blankets. The open-knit construction allows air to move through the fabric. There are no sealed bead pockets trapping heat. Hot sleepers consistently report better temperature regulation with the Noctis than with any bead-fill blanket. Important: if you run cold and want warmth, the Noctis is not your product. It provides pressure, not insulation. The open weave means airflow, which is a feature for hot sleepers and a misfit for cold ones.
Fully machine washable. No disassembly, no cover removal, no hand-wash inner. Gentle or regular cycle in cold or warm water. For the 15 lb Standard, most home XL-capacity machines handle it. For the 20 lb Queen, we recommend a commercial laundromat machine. Tumble dry on low or air dry flat. No bead leakage in the wash, which is a common failure point for traditional weighted blankets.
Use case is the main difference. The 5 lb Throw (36x48") covers a body in a seated or curled position: sofa, reading chair, or travel. It does not cover a full bed. The 15 lb Standard (48x72") is a full adult bed blanket for single sleepers. The 20 lb Queen (60x80") covers a queen or king bed and works for couples. If you are ordering the Throw expecting full-bed coverage, you will be disappointed. Please choose the Standard instead.
30 days from delivery for returns. If the Noctis is not right for you, contact us and we will arrange a return. Buyer covers return shipping on non-defective items. Defective items: we cover both ways. Weight exchanges: if you ordered the wrong weight, contact us within 30 days with your order number. We will ship the correct weight when we receive the original. No restocking fee.
The Noctis is made from 100% cotton. We are not GOTS-certified organic at launch. That certification is a near-term priority and we are actively pursuing it. Until it is confirmed, we will not use the word organic in our marketing. We think being honest about this matters more than the claim. When it is done, you will know.
Give it three nights. Night one is the adjustment, not the verdict. Your nervous system needs time to calibrate to sustained proprioceptive pressure. Most people who almost returned it on night one report sleeping better by night three and feeling strange without it by night seven. If it still feels wrong after a full week, contact us and we will exchange the weight or process a return.
Deep pressure stimulation has documented effects on the autonomic nervous system in clinical literature. The Karolinska Institute and others have studied proprioceptive pressure and its relationship to cortisol, serotonin, and melatonin. We reference this research as the mechanism behind the product. The Noctis is not a medical device and we do not make medical claims. What we can say: the mechanism is real, and thousands of weighted blanket users report meaningful anxiety and sleep improvement.
Both use a bead-free chunky-knit construction. The main differences: Bearaby starts at $199, the Noctis starts at $89. Bearaby has 3,000 plus reviews and we do not, yet. Bearaby is GOTS organic certified and we are working toward that. The Noctis offers a 30-day weight exchange program that Bearaby does not. If you want an established brand with years of reviews, Bearaby is a good product. If you want bead-free open-knit construction at a lower entry point with a weight exchange guarantee, the Noctis is the better choice.
